Fighting Against or Fighting For?

When we fight against something we use all our energy and power against ourselves. Imagine a huge mountain. As you step up close all you see is the hard rock face in front of you. You know that you want to conquer this mountain but all you do is run against it, bounce off and potentially hurt yourself in the process. Now for moment imagine stepping back from this huge obstacle, taking a deep breath and looking around. After a few moments you notice that there is indeed another way to achieve your goal. Just to the left of your view point you notice a stream. As you follow the stream towards the mountain you notice a naturally built stairway of rock running up the face of the mountain. It's still difficult to climb but you will be fighting towards something achievable and natural. The point to this story illustrates that fighting against something isn't always the best approach. It's much better to take stock of the situation and convert the anger and frustration into passion and real desire to make a positive change. Placing these ingredients into a "fighting for" situation will yield a much better and more realistic outcome. There is a lot of talk around regarding "The Secret" and how you can focus on your desires to achieve what you want and not what you don't want. According to their philosophy, putting energy and focus into fighting something you could end up with what you didn't want. Now if we all sat around being passive in the hope that the universe will deliver our path to us without any effort on our part then some of our greatest achievements wouldn't have happened. The key is to "Fight For", fight with passion and desire towards something. When people get in your way like the mountain, stand back and see what the situation is really telling you. Then take a look around, find the real path, thank your obstacle for showing you the error of your ways and move proudly towards your goal.

I also watched a spine tingling movie recently, and it affected me deeply... called The Last Mimzy - aimed at kids, but what an effect it had on me and hubby... it is definitely seeded with higher consciousness - I love movies that make you go deeper!

I've seen 'What the Bleep...' and I loved it. Can't wait to see Convergence... I think we ought to get a minibus trip up to see that one! ha ha...

Jay, thanks for expanding on the philosophy. I know most people would be sceptical. The real test is for people to try it out for themselves, that's when you discover it seems to work. Knowing that everyone and everything is connected in the universe really allows you to understand how it can be possible. There are some wonderful film documentaries out at the moment trying to articulate the science behind it such as the "What the bleep do we know". The real proof however is in living it. David Wilcock is hoping to release "Convergence" a new feature length "hollywood" style documentary which will go into some of new spiritual science concepts. Worth looking out for.

Ian, wonderful article. I love your way of seeing things.

Can I add my thoughts here, too? Some time ago, I had cause to think about the word 'fight' and realised when someone said they were 'fighting for peace' that the words resonated harshly within me. I realised that 'fight' and 'peace' do not (can not) go together like 'fish' and 'chips' because there is disharmony in the opposing meanings. In that, I realised there had to be some other way to obtain peace or whatever else it is we're 'fighting' to obtain...

So then I saw the Secret, but THEN, I watched Esther Hicks translating Source Energy into Abraham, with her husband Jerry Hicks and together they wrote The Secret BEHIND The Secret... and I was blown away. Still am!

In the end it's all about the vibration, or energy, that we offer that determines how we achieve our goals and how quickly. If one offers a vibration of 'fight' we attract, by the Law of Attraction, a fight - or resistance. The saying, 'what you REsist, PERsists' is so true. What you focus on, you attract into your life, whether you want something or you don't. It depends on which drum you wish to beat... the drum of lack, fear, fight, poverty, etc... or the drum of abundance and prosperity and gratitude and love for all we have around us already, for there is ALWAYS something - however small - to appreciate in our lives.

But I agree that it is a lovely thing to thank one's obstacle for it's presence in one's life. Without the contrast we would not know the contrast.. in other words, we can't know light unless we are also aware of the darkness... and that doesn't mean we have to be in darkness to know it. It simply means be aware of it's presence. But we don't have to give it power...

Thank you for listening this far! Hope it makes some sense? ha ha
