Ghost Hunt & Canal Trip
We will be taking a canal trip on 'The Blackcountry Man' canal boat which will be from the Canal Street Basin through Stourbridge lock number 15 & 16 on the Stourbridge Canal. Whilst on board a buffet will be provided and the more energetic amongst you will have the opportunity to help the crew operate the locks. This trip will also include a guided talk by the boats crew. The trip will take apx. 2 hours. The Blackcountry Man was originally built in 1948 at Harris's Dock, Netherton, for Stewarts & Lloyds of Halesowen. It is believed that it is the last full length (70ft) boat to have been built of riveted plates. Originally unpowered, it would have been towed by tug, horse, or plain human muscle power.
On returning from the boat trip, we will be spending 2 hours in the Bonded Warehouse, we have all 3 floors of this Grade 2 listed building. The Bonded Warehouse we see today is the enlarged building of the late 1840's - a prosperous period for the Canal Company when the warehouse capacity was doubled and the adjoining Company Offices were built.
There is much activity here and combined with the boat trip, it will be an event not to be missed.
It is possible to just do one part of this event, either the boat trip, or the investigation afterwards, however availability of split tickets is strictly limited. Please contact Dave or Jane for further information and availability
